Thank you for your interest in ACORN (Automatic Course Outline RevisioN), a web-based tool developed by the CAC to streamline the course revision process.
Although several bugs remain, ACORN will (fairly reliably) port pre-existing course information from the Santa Rosa database into the NEW Course Outline forms and may speed up your course revision process considerably. However, be aware that not all classes fit the standard template in Santa Rosa; some may be mishandled by ACORN. We would appreciate being notified of any classes that seem to be causing problems so we can improve ACORN before the general release.
ACORN strives to anticipate all the forms you will need in the revision process. Any additional forms you may need must be downloaded separately from the CAC website. At this time, ACORN does not support new course outline creation. It is intended primarily to assist the course revision process by quickly inserting all pre-existing course information into the latest CAC forms.
To use ACORN, visit http://terra.mpc.edu/acorn/index.htm and enter your name and the course number (such as MATH20A or ENGL321 in the appropriate box and submit your request. A page will then be displayed with the (mostly) completed course outline forms needed for your revision. Simply download these forms to your hard drive (right click each link, then SaveTargetAs) and edit them in Word as you would normally before sending them off for approval.
Some information will never be available from ACORN simply because it is not stored in Santa Rosa. Other information will be available as ACORN is improved. In either case, the missing information must be provided by the faculty completing the forms. This includes:
Thanks again for your help in making ACORN a more effective tool in simplifying the course revision process. Please send comments or questions to Tom Rebold, who will forward appropriate messages to the developer, Steve Pearce.
